Iran celebrates


The 31st anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran was celebrated at the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel in the presence of a large gathering of invitees among whom were Members of Parliament, Diplomats, Members of the Clergy and other distinguished guests.

The Ambassador of Iran in Sri Lanka, Rahimi Gorgi in his speech focused attention on the long standing relations between Sri Lanka and Iran.

He congratulated President Mahinda Rajapakse on his re-election for a second term in office.

The highlight of the evening was the singing of the National Anthems of both countries by Iranian children.

The ambassador whilst wishing peace and prosperity for Sri Lanka on behalf of the government. and people of the Republic of Iran stressed the new vistas of cooperation between the two countries leading to strengthening of their friendship and further cemmenting their centuries old ties.
