Postal Department launches 4-hour courier service

The Postal Department has launched a four-hour express courier service initially in the 15 zones in the Colombo City, said Gaya Kanchana, Business Development Officer of the Postal Department.

He said that Post Master General D. K. B. Dissanayake had inaugurated this service from the main hub at the Central Mail Exchange at D. R. Wijewardena Mawatha, Colombo last week.

He said motor cyclists will also be used for the courier service. "We will undertake to deliver parcels or mail up to a maximum weight of two kilos".

Vans will be used to deliver parcels, he said.

The service has been divided into three categories as Colombo Inner, Colombo Outer and Outer Colombo to Outer areas of Colombo suburbs.

He said that collection of mail and parcels outside Colombo will be done at Moratuwa, Nugegoda, Kadawatha, Jaela, Homagama, Panadura and Negombo post offices.
