Ransom from husband to reveal wife’s illicit ‘affair’

A man who demanded a ransom of Rs 1.5 million from a husband to reveal his wife’s illicit "affair" man was caught red handed while accepting an advance of 100,000.

Kurunegala Crimes Branch IP H.M.P.Herath and a team of officers nabbed the suspect on the instructions of SSP Vas Gunawardena.

According to the Police the suspect phoned a man working in the harbour that he knew about an illicit affair wife was having with and if he wanted details he should pay him a sum of Rs 1.5 million. He later agreed to accept an advance of Rs 100,000 and the harbour worker tipped off the Police.

A police team in civvies waited for the suspect and arrested him while accepting the money.
