Bank CEO on UNF national list; ponders future role

National Development Bank (NDB Bank) Chief Executive Officer Eran Wickramaratne, who is one of the 29 people on the National List of the United National Front (UNF) for the April 8 Parliamentary elections, has yet not decided whether to resign or not from his post at the bank.

This is the first time a CEOof a public quoted bank is scheduled to enter politics.

An old Royalist and cricketer, Eran Wickramaratne, was a top officer attached to the Citi Bank, before joining NDB Bank as CEO.

Wickramaratne told The Island that legally he could continue at NDB Bank, unless he was appointed a cabinet minister.

He said: "If I am only a nominated MP, I could continue to serve the NDB Bank. We are having discussions and will make an announcement shortly," said Wickramaratne.
