Forced to follow on after being bowled out for 199 runs, Moratu Vidyalaya managed to force a draw as Anuruddha Kalhara anchored their innings with a top score of 60 runs in a score of 249 for eight wickets in their Under-19 tournament match against D.S. Senanayake College at Wijerama Mawatha yesterday.

Royal College Panadura were in front on first innings scores as they posted 233 for nine wickets at close in reply to Tissa Central’s 148 runs on the first day of their Under-19 match started at Panadura Esplanade yesterday.

Sri Rahula Katugastota record first innings win

Spinner Amith Thilakratne stole the limelight for the umpteenth occasion as he took his eighth five or more wicket feat in just eleven matches as Sri Rahula College, Katugastota registered a first inning victory over Carey College, Colombo in their drawn inter-school under 19 cricket tournament match at Mount Mary in Colombo yesterday.

Thilakratne picked up 5 for 50 to reduce Carrey to 179 runs in 54.4 overs with I. Amila top scoring with 56 before Sri Rahula replied with 196. The score included two aggressive half tons by Sunimal Dissanayake(62 runs with 12 fours) and Roshan Subasinghe (50 not out).

Carey in reply looked a vastly improved outfit in their second essay, posting 238 for 7 declared in 47.4 overs with Sanka Perera top scoring with 71 while I. Amila making a yet another useful half ton (63 runs).

Sri Rahula who were hastily chasing an unfeasible target lost six of their wickets for 64 runs in 18 overs amid a stiff spin attack unleashed by R. Rizvi and C. Mapatuna who shared 6 wickets between them to keep Rahula at bay.

Carey College 179 all out in 54.4 overs (Shafra Yuthufi 35, I. Amila 56, Mohamed Irfan 15, A. Ratnasooriya 12, Srimal Madhushanka 3 for 22, Amith Thilakratne 5 for 50) and 238 for 7 declared in 47.4 overs (Sanka Perera 71, I. Amila 63, T. Kaldera 33, Shafra Yuthufi 22, Rajitha Ranathunga 2 for 27)
