National Polls Observation Centre ‘lacks integrity’ – Ex-Convener

National Polls Observation Centre (NPOC) convener Prasanna Adikari resigned from his post expressing disagreement over some of its activities.

Adikari told The Island that he had been instrumental in founding the NPOC to provide a national service by providing impartial news on elections.

He claimed that the activities of NPOC had left much to be desired because moves were afoot to affiliate the NPOC to the SLFP lawyers’ association.

He said that he had been officially informed by NPOC national organisers that a decision was taken to affiliate the centre to SLFP lawyers’ association.

Adikari said he had thought of resigning as he was convinced that NPOC would no longer be able to provide an impartial service to people.
