A fishing trawler in distress rescued by the navy
being towed to the Trincomalee harbour. Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV)
SLNS Samudura is pictured towing the fishing craft. Navy
headquarters spokesman Captain Athula Senarat told The Island
that the navy had reached Pushparajina about 250 nautical
miles off Batticaloa on March 4 at 11 am. According to him, at the
time the navy received a request for immediate intervention, the OPV
had been patrolling the area. |
