SE University closed after students clash, VC quits

The South Eastern University was closed indefinitely following a clash between two factions of students at the Oluwil Campus.

According to Acting Registrar Mansoor Cader, all academic activities of the faculties of commerce, management, arts, culture, Islamic and Arabic studies have been suspended indefinitely and the main campus at Oluwil has been declared out of bounds to all students.

He said the faculty of applied science at Sammanthurai will function as usual.

Meanwhile an official statement issued by the Eastern University said that Vice Chancellor Dr. N. Pathmanathan submitted his resignation on Thursday following demands by a group of students who entered his office on Wednesday, abused him and demanded his resignation.
