JOHANNESBURG (AP) - A court has found the youth leader of South Africa’s governing party guilty of hate speech.
The Johannesburg Equality Court convicted ANC Youth League president Julius Malema on charges of hate speech and harassment Monday.
A gender justice group took Malema to court for saying the woman who had accused President Jacob Zuma of rape had "a nice time" as she stayed for breakfast and asked for taxi money. Zuma was acquitted.
South African media report Malema has been ordered to make an unconditional public apology within two weeks and pay 50,000 rand ($6,700) to a center for abused women within a month.
Malema was again accused of hate speech last week after he led college students in singing a song about shooting white farmers.
