

Danish loan for Milco development
The government of Denmark signed an agreement to loan 39.1 million Euro, on an easy payment scheme, to Milco (Pvt) Limited. The estimated cost in rupee terms for developing four factories is Rs. 6,220 million.
Sunimal Senaratne, Secretary of the Ministry of Livestock Development said yesterday (19) the factories in Digana, Ambewela, Polonnaruwa and Narahenpita would be developed. Development will commence by the end of April.
The project is a part of the ‘Mahinda Chintanaya’ to promote the use of liquid milk. The project will increase the production capacity of the companies, the Information Department said.
The venture would also enhance the economy in milk producing villages and increase the number of jobs.
Sri Lanka would also be able to reach the standards of developed countries with the technology made available.
The Livestock Development Ministry plans on initiate milk production in the North and East provinces near future, ministry sources said. (DJ)
