Super 14 champion could be forced out of stadium
JOHANNESBURG (AP) - The defending champion Bulls could be forced to play the rest of the Super 14 away from their Loftus Versfeld stadium due to worries over damage to the pitch at the World Cup venue.
The SAPA news agency reported on Monday that parliamentary committee on sport chairman Butana Komphela is unhappy with the condition of the pitches at Pretoria’s Loftus and the Cheetahs’ Vodacom Park in Bloemfontein, which will also host World Cup games.
Representatives from the Bulls and the Cheetahs are to appear at a committee meeting in Cape Town on Tuesday.
The Bulls confirmed the meeting Monday, saying it was "to discuss the use of Loftus Versfeld for the remainder of the Vodacom Super 14 rugby games."
