The newly-appointed Irrigation and Water Resources Minster Nimal Siripala de Silva says the government intends to amend the Constitution before President Mahinda Rajapaksa begins his second term.
President Rajapaksa will take oaths in the third week of November 2010 in keeping with a Supreme Court directive.
Newly appointed Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa over the weekend inspected a wholesale fish market, under construction. It will replace the St Johns fish market which has been Colombo’s main wholesale and retail fish sales point over the years.
