Four persons who tried tap electricity from a high tension power line in Karuwalagaswewa in Suriyawewa were electrocuted.

Although the victims had been rushed to the Hambantota Hospital, they were pronounced dead on administration, the police said.

The deceased were Thushara Sampath of Elahera, N.Kodithuwaku of Muwanpelessa, Amithapala of Kandawura pedesa and J.A.Kularatne of Weniwelarapola.

A team of officers led by the OIC of the Suriyawewa Police IP Chanaka Sumanasinghe is conducting further investigations.
