SEC, BOI and CEA get new heads

The heads of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Board of Investments (BOI) and the Central Environment Authority have been replaced with new appointees, the government announced.

Former Secretary of the Plantations Industry Ministry Ms. Indrani Sugathadasa will replace Udayasiri Kariyawasam as the new Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). She earlier held the position of Secretary to the Child Development and Women’s Empowerment Ministry as well.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Ceylon Tobacco Company and a senior private sector executive and former Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Jayampathy Bandaranayake was appointed as the

Chairman and Director-General of the Board of Investment (BOI). He replaces Dhammika Perera.

Charitha Herath has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Central Environmental Authority (CEA).

He was once a senior lecturer at the Postgraduate Unit of the Faculty of Arts at University of Peradeniya and prior to the new appointment was attached to the Media Ministry as a Consultant.

During the time he was attached to the University of Peradeniya, Herath was a senior lecturer at the Department of Philosophy & Psychology. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Peradeniya University and a Masters in Arts from Ohio.
