The vacancies for Tamil and Sinhala medium teachers in the Eastern province are to be filled soon, Minister of Education Bandula Gunewardana, said during a ceremony at the Trincomalee Abayapura Primary School.

He said that the intention of President Mahinda Rajapaksa is to give the same facilities to schools in all provinces.

The President had created an environment in the East for children to continue their studies without fear.

According to the Secretary, Ministry of Education Eastern Province, there are 371 teacher vacancies in the Sinhala medium and 698 vacancies in the Tamil medium.
