Infotel 2010 - Flagship ICT Expo to be held in Sep-Oct 2010

About FITIS: FITIS - the Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka - comprises the Hardware chapter - Sri Lanka Computer Vendors Association (SLCVA), Software chapter - Sri Lanka Association for the Software Industries (SLASI), the Training chapter Association of Computer Training Organizations (ACTOS), the Telecommunications chapter Lanka Internet Service Providers Association (LISPA)/(TPA) and the Professional Chapter - Information Security Audit & Control (ISACA). FITIS has been in operation for the past 18 years as the unified umbrella organization of the ICT industry in Sri Lanka and actively engaged in developing the ICT with many programs and initiatives.

Sri Lanka's flagship ICT Expo - Infotel 2010 - will be held under the theme "IT's about Growth" from 30th September to 4th October 2010 at BMICH organized by the Federation of Information Technology Industry of Sri Lanka (FITIS). A series of programs parallel to the Infotel 2010 ICT Expo will be organized coinciding with the National ICT Week 2010.

"As Sri Lanka is poised for a new chapter of accelerated economic growth, this year's Infotel theme "IT's About Growth" epitomizes the vital role of IT in building Sri Lanka's new economy" said Govind Nangrani, Chairman - FITIS. "Infotel 2010 offers an ideal platform for ICT stakeholders in Sri Lanka and the neighbouring South Asian Region to explore and capitalize the new growth and wealth creation opportunities in Sri Lanka" he further added. "One of the key highlights  of the Infotel 2010 Expo is the participation of global telecommunications vendors building value similar to the GSM Congress in Spain" he continued.

The participation of multi-national ICT giants and key regional technology players showcasing their latest ICT technologies will no doubt add value to the ICT Expo. This year's Infotel ICT Expo will provide conference and breakout facilities for sponsors and exhibitors to showcase their products, technologies and solutions.

An interesting and knowledge enhancing program of activities has been planned for the ICT Week coinciding with the Infotel 2010 Sri Lanka ICT Expo, and includes the CEO conclave and walk, student day & career guidance fair where large number of students from schools in the western province are expected to participate. In addition the Infotel FORUM, FITIS Young Computer Scientist (YCS) Awards, ICTer2010 International ICT Conference and the National Best Quality Software (NBQSA) awards ceremony will also adorn the National ICT Week. The glamorous Infotel Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner will be held on 3rd October, and part of the proceeds from the event will be donated to build computer training infrastructure in the north and east. The best exhibitor award and the ISACA IT Security awards will be a highlight of the Infotel Awards ceremony.
