Three Lankans arrested by UK officers at Norwich

Three Lankans, who were members of the staff at a Norwich newsagency, have been arrested and the shop forced to close down after a visit by UK Border Agency officers, agency reports said yesterday.

A tip off led to the raid on St. John’s News in St. John’s Close on Tuesday afternoon, the BBC reported quoting the UK Border Agency.

The story said: "Checks revealed two members of staff, plus a newspaper delivery person, just returned from his rounds, were all in the UK illegally. Three men, aged 35, 45 and 46, all from Sri Lanka had overstayed their visas.

A 27-year-old failed asylum seeker from India, was found in accommodation above the shop.

All four have been placed in UK Border Agency detention while arrangements are made for their removal from the UK."
