A 15-year - old schoolboy, responsible for robbing 14 bicycles, by posing off as a policeman, was arrested by the Matara Police. He was produced before Matara Magistrate Udesh Ranatunga, who remanded him till June 21.

The suspect from Mee-Ella in Hakmana had targeted cyclists riding at night without a light, the Police said. He had stopped such cyclists and taken away their bicycles "ordering" them to appear in Court the following day.

Police said he had started robbing cyclists in this manner about a year ago when he was only 14 years old and he had sold 13 bicycles of which Police have recovered eight.

The recovered bicycles are at the Matara Police Station.
