The government said yesterday that it wanted to pass the 20th Amendment to the Constitution prior to holding the next general election, but did not set a date for the polls.

Cabinet Spokesman and Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne told a news conference in Colombo, that a concept paper on the proposed electoral reforms meant to introduce the First Past the Post and Limited PR had been presented by President Maitripala Sirisena to the Cabinet of Ministers yesterday.
