Principal of Sir John Kotalawela Vidyalaya, Saman Indraratne allegedly implicated in the suicide of Venusha Imandi, a student of his school was re-remanded till April 11 by the Kurunegala Magistrate Court yesterday for violating bail conditions.

OIC of the National Child Protection Authority (NCPA), B.W. Bopitigoda said that Indraratna had allegedly influenced the witnesses. The Principal was arrested on February 18 by the NCPA Police Desk on charges of child cruelty following her death early that month. He allegedly abused the student after she allegedly posted a photograph of herself on Facebook.

However, the Principal was released on bail while he was temporarily transferred out of the school to the Provincial Education Office  to facilitate a probe into the incident by the North Western Province Chief Minister's Office.

Our Staff correspondent in Kurunegala R.M. Bandara said that the principal had allegedly made threatening calls against Venusha Imandi's parents, witnesses and four teachers serving in the school. He said that complaints had been made to the Kurunegala Police in that regard.
