Dr. Padeniya re-elected with 95% of votes cast

The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) held its Annual General Election on June 28 in Colombo and its President Dr. Anuruddha Padeniya was re-elected as President with a majority of 2660 votes accounting for 95 per cent of the votes cast.

His opponent Dr. Niroshan Premaratne attached to the NHSL only received 138 votes. The other office bearers such as GMOA General Committee and Executive Committee members had been elected uncontested. Dr. Lasantha Jinadasa had been elected as the General Secretary GMOA with a majority of 2,574 votes representing 94.7 per cent of the votes cast.
