Professions Supplementary to Medicine to strike from Aug. 08

The Professions Supplementary to Medicine (PSM)  yesterday said the Health Ministry would be given time till August 8 to solve their grievances including Class One and Special Grade promotions and if the authorities failed to meet that deadline there would be a strike.


The General Secretary of the Professions Supplementary to Medicine (PSM), however, that they would first consider the pledge given in writing by the Health Secretary during the previous strike on July 17. The current Health Secretary’s predecessors, too, had made written promises to the PSM union promising a settlement to the demands by them in this regard.


Their demands include the implementation of the Class One, Special Grade and Supra Grade promotions.


The PSM also demanded that the Health Ministry recruit degree holders in professions supplementary to medicine. The PSM comprises medical laboratory technologists, occupational therapists, radiographers, pharmacists and physiotherapists.
