DIGs get transfers

Kalutara Deputy Inspector General (DIG) P. Indran, has been transferred to the Police Headquarters Welfare Unit with effect from yesterday (3).

DIG Sumith Edirisinghe, who was in charge of Western Province (South), has been appointed as new DIG in charge of Kalutara and Panadura police divisions.

DIG (Traffic) K. Senanayake has been appointed Acting DIG for Mount Lavinia and Nugegoda areas, which previously came under the purview of DIG Edirisinghe.

Following the recent clashes at Alutgama and Beruwala on June 15, the IGP has placed Alutgama, Beruwala police stations and Moragalla tourist police and Kandevihara police posts under DIG Amarasiri Senaratne. Along with that change Chief Inspector J. Ranasinghe has been appointed Alutgama OIC and several top positions including the Alutgama ASP, HQI and an inspector have been transferred out.

Police Superintendent Roshan Silva, who was in charge of Kalutara, has been transferred to Police Headquarters and SSP Ranjith Kodithuwakku, who was in charge of Alutgama has been transferred to Kalutara police.
