Beauty clinic death:  Doctor remanded

The Hulftsdorp Magistrate yesterday remanded Dr. Nimal Gamage till August 18 over the death of Dr. P. A. Priyangi, mother of two children on Tuesday.

Judicial Medical Officer of the National Hospital Dr. Shriyantha Samarasinghe, who performed the postmortem examination, informed the magistrate that he had completed his part but the skin samples had to be examined by some other doctor and, therefore, another day was needed.

Parts of the deceased doctors’ body were handed over to the Government Analyst.

The doctor died after she had been given an injection.

Dr. P. A. Priyangi (47) was serving at the Plastic Surgery unit of the Lady Ridgeway Hospital at the time her death.

On that fateful day, she visited a private Cosmetic Surgery clinic on Visakha Road, Bambalapitiya for beauty treatment.

The clinic specialises in skin bleaching, liposuction etc.
