Spl. security in Parliament for Budget day

By Saman Indrajith

Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa yesterday announced that a special security arrangement has been put in place in Parliament in view of the budget presentation on November 22.

He said that on November 18 and 19 all rest rooms and lockers will be searched ahead of the Budget day.

The public gallery will be restricted to invitees only on November 22 and no handbags, mobile phones or other items will be allowed into the building.

The MPs car park too would be closed and an alternate area would be allocated for parking, the Speaker said.

Members who drive their own vehicles will be able to drive up to the MPs entrance and use the valet service put in place for the day.

A special traffic arrangement too will be in place on November 22, the speaker said.
