Rathupaswela factory case taken up

The Venigross Company Pvt. Limited has shifted their industrial facility from Rathupaswela to a different location, Counsel for this respondent company Dr. Harsha Cabraal told the Court of Appeal yesterday.


The petitioner ‘Siyana Water Protection Organisation’ of Gampaha had complained to the Court of Appeal that the factory released untreated waste chemicals into the soil and as a result the ground water had got polluted. They wanted the Court to Order the Central Environmental Authority and other connected institutions to intervene and prevent this pollution of the water and to get the factory shifted.


The Writ Application filed against the Venigross Company Private Limited will be called again on November 7.


The request by the Venigross Company to be removed from being a respondent was allowed by the court yesterday.


The Deputy Solicitor General, Arjuna Obeysekera, appeared for the Attorney General.
