The JVP yesterday asked the government to reveal from where it had obtained money for bribing its parliamentarians to prevent them from crossing over to the Opposition and to poach opposition members came.
Party Propaganda Secretary and MP Vijitha Herath alleged that there were several ministers and MPs who had been ready to crossover with former Minister Maithripala Sirisena but they had been bribed into changing their mind
MP Herath alleged that the government had offered Rs. 500 million to get Jaffna District TNA parliamentarian Appathurai Vinayakamorthy, but he had turned down the offer. "We need to know whether the government buys MPs from public funds or black money spent by racketeers," MP Herath said. President Mahinda Rajapaksa recently said in his speech in Anuradhapura that he had incriminating files on all those who defected, but he would not expose them. It was a shame that the leader of the country was protecting racketeers by not revealing their files, Herath said.
"We asked Rajapaksa to reveal the files and prosecute them without further delay."
