IUSF alleges govt. forcing u’grads to attend rally in support of MR

The Inter University Students’ Federation (IUSF) has alleged that the government is forcing undergraduates to attend a UPFA propaganda rally scheduled for Dec. 2 in support of its presidential election candidate Mahinda Rajapaksa.

IUSF convenor Najith Indika said last night told The Island that the university administration had warned undergraduates that those failing to attend the event could lose Mahapola scholarship grant. Indika said that undergraduates had been told that those coming for the function could collect three installments, whereas others would have to face the consequences.

The IUSF said that they had been also instructed to come in white and not to carry hand phones.

Indika said that they would campaign against the government move.
