Golden Key property: SC calls for comprehensive  report

A five judge bench of the Supreme Court yesterday ordered the Monetary Board of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, to submit a report regarding the properties of the Golden Key Credit Card Company Private Limited, falling under the categories of undisputed properties belonging the Golden Key Company, improperly acquired properties of Golden Key, the properties belonging to the Directors and to third parties.


The report is to be submitted within one month.


The revision order requested by the petitioners who had filed fundamental rights applications against the company, will be called on January 30, 2011.


The Deputy Solicitor General, Viraj Dayaratne appeared for the Central Bank and the Attorney General.


The Bench comprised Justice K. Sripavan, Justice Eva Wanasundera, Justice Rohini Marasinghe, Justice Buwanaka Aluwihara and Justice Sisira de Abrew.


The former chairman and the then directors of the company are among the respondents in the petition filed by the aggrieved depositors, who alleged they had been cheated Rs. 26 billion.
