President reminds new Ministry secretaries of their fundamental duty

President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday called on all secretaries of ministries to work hard and live up to people’s expectations.


Addressing the newly appointed Secretaries of Ministries and State Ministries at the Presidential Secretariat, President Sirisena said all public officials should work to eradicate bribery, corruption, waste and misuse of public funds and property.


"People elected me by accepting my manifesto," the President said, adding that the main responsibility of new secretaries was to fulfil the promises given therein.


Thirty nine Sri Lanka Administrative Service officers were appointed to the Ministries and State Ministries be President Sirisena.
