by Chaminda Silva

Western Provincial Council member Hirunika Premachandra said yesterday that she had made a special request to the police to expedite investigations into a complaint made by former Minister Mervyn Silva that he knew the details of assassinations and crimes that took place during the recent past.

Former minister Silva on Saturday (17) complained to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) against Former Minister and MP Basil Rajapaksa and former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa accusing them of frauds and crimes. After lodging the complaint Silva told journalists that he had complained about all the murders including Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra and Lasantha Wikrametunge and the attacks on several private media institutions.

Following former Minister Silva’s complaint, WPC Councillor Hirunika Premachandra visited Angoda police station and Police Headquarters in Colombo and made a statement requesting police to expedite investigations.

Hirunika told The Island that a proper investigation of former minister Silva’s complaint on her father’s death could lead to apprehend those responsible for the crime and she would remain vigilant of the progress of investigations.
