A Panadura Urban councillor and two administrative officers were injured in a clash yesterday morning subsequent to councillors adopting a resolution to remove acting female secretary from her post.

The clash had broken out between councillors and several administrative officers between 11.15 a.m. and 11.30 a.m., Police Media Unit (PMU) said.

Two administrative officers, D. Soysa and Kapila Gamini are being treated at the Panadura hospital under police protection while the injured UPFA Urban Councillor Mahesh Fernando is being treated at the Nagoda hospital in Kalutara.

Acting Secretary of the Panadura Urban Council Champika Weerasekara told The Island last night that the Urban Councillors had attempted to transfer her by adopting a resolution as she refused to interdict an employee without a proper investigation. She said that Urban Council Chairman Rienzie Fernando had asked her to interdict the employee for allegely scolding him.
