Chinese envoy meets SLFP after powwow with Ranil

Close on the heels of a fence mending meeting with UNP leader and Prime Minister Ranil Wickrmesinghe, Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Yi Xianliang has thanked the SLFP for its contribution to developing Sino- Lanka relations.


A spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Colombo said that Ambassador Yi had called on General Secretary of the SLFP Anura Priyadharshana Yapa MP on Monday in Colombo to thank the SLFP for strengthening bilateral ties and also friendly relations between the two countries.


The Ambassador, while emphasising that China was firmly committed to strengthening bilateral ties said that it would work towards deepening pragmatic cooperation in as many fields as possible.


Anura Priyadarshana Yapa while thanking the Ambassador for the goodwill extended had observed that Sri Lanka considered China as a ‘friend in need" and greatly appreciated its assistance which had helped end a protracted armed conflict and its support for post-war reconstruction and economic development which could never be forgotten.
