Former JVP leader Somawansa Amarasinghe who recently formed a new party Janatha Sevaka Party to become its leaders has decided to contest the upcoming polls under the JHU-led Eksath Yahapalana Jathika Peramuna (United National Front for Good Governance).

Amarasinghe would contest under the Diamond symbol of the new front from the Kalutara District, sources said yesterday.

Amarasinghe, contacted for comment, confirmed that he would contest from the Kalutara District from the JHU-led front and nomination lists had not been finalised.

The JHU last week officially announced that it had changed its name to Eksath Yahapalana Jathika Peramuna (EYJP) or the United National Front for Good Governance. The party symbol has been changed from the conch shell to the diamond.
