FR case against Samurdhi Minister

A fundamental rights violation petition filed by a group of Samurdhi beneficiaries against Minister of Samurdhi, Sajith Premadasa and a few other respondents will be supported for leave to proceed on July 15, 2015.


The petitioners have complained that the Minister has allocated Samurdhi funds to outsiders at the expense of Samurdhi beneficiaries.


They said the Financial Crimes Investigation Division had not responded when they tried to lodge a complaint with it. The petitioners have claimed arbitrary treatment and political discrimination by the FCID, the Samurdhi Minister and a several other state authorities.


Manohara de Silva PC appeared for the petitioners. 


The petition will be supported to obtain leave to proceed at the next date with notification to the respondents.
