TNA accused of ordering political transfers

Several school principals in the Kilinocchi District have been transferred since the declaration of the General Election, the Centre for Monitoring Election Violence (CMEV) says.

Kilinochchi Maha Vidyalaya Principal A. Pangayatchelvan has told CMEV that he received a letter of transfer from Zonal Education Director on 3rd July 2015. Although he received the letter on July 3 2015 it had been dated 29th June 2015.

According to Pangayachelvan following protests by parents and students against the transfer ordered the by Zonal Educational Director he was informed that he could work at Kilinochchi Maha Vidyalaya till August 31, 2015.

However, Pangaytchelvan received a second letter from Zonal Education Director on July 08 ordering him to leave Kilinochchi Maha Vidyalaya by July 29, 2015. According to Pangayatchelvan it was an act of political revenge by the Tamil National Alliance.

The principal of Barathi Vidyalaya Kilinochchi, too, has told the CMEV that the transfers were consequent to a TNA decision. He said that because he had been appointed to Barathi Vidyalaya through the intervention of former MP Chandrandrakanthan (EPDP) the TNA was hostile towards him. According to him, the Zonal Educational Director took orders from the TNA.

The CMEV said it had attempted to contact Zonal Educational Director K. Murugavel several times, but in vain.
