UPFA Prime Ministerial Candidate former President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday said he didn’t have any foreign bank accounts.

"If anyone could prove that I had even five dollars in a foreign account I will leave politics immediately," Rajapaksa said.

The former President made the statement in an interview with Hiru TV.

He said though some politicians said there were over 7,000 complaints of corruption against the previous government, no one knew where those files had gone today. He said those charges had been fabricated.

Meanwhile, asked by The Island last night to comment on the allegations made against him by former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, Rajapaksa said: "I need not respond. And if necessary I will get my secretary to do so. No one can prevent the UPFA from winning the upcoming election and securing a clear majority to form the government. Our political enemies are now desperate as they know they will be defeated."
