DSG gives undertaking to court to peruse police IB extracts

Deputy Solicitor General, Parinda Ranasinghe yesterday gave an undertaking to the Supreme Court that he would call for IB extracts from the police and peruse the issue pertaining to the allegations made in the petition filed by Deputy Minister of Justice, Sujeewa Senasinghe against the police. The Deputy Solicitor General would see what further steps should be taken, after studying the IB extracts.


Attorney-at-law Senasinghe has complained that a police team led by Sergeant Gamini-Wansa obstructed his election campaign at Athurugiriya recently.


 The petitioner who is a candidate at the forthcoming poll has complained of arbitrary treatment by the police.


 The fundamental rights violation petition will be supported on September 16, 2015.
