KDU in fresh bid to attract students

The General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) would conduct its "Open Day" programme on October 03, 2015 from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm at the university premises, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) of the KDU said, addressing a media briefing held at the Ministry of Defence Media Centre yesterday (29).


 Elaborating on the aim of the event, Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC-Academics) Prof. Thilak Weerasooriya said it was to create opportunities for prospective students and their families to visit the university and learn about the courses, scholarships, activities and facilities that the KDU offered.


Established as the Kotelawala Defence Academy (KDA) in the year 1981 on the estate of late Prime Minister General Sir John Kotelawala, the KDU has developed as a unique seat of university education, offering degrees in a number of disciplines. Today, the KDU has become a highly sought after seat of learning both by local and foreign students.


 Head of Department (Management and Finance) Dr R. M. N. T. Sirisoma, Director MOD Media Centre Brigadier Jayanath Jayaweera and Dean Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies Colonel M. G. W. W. W. M. C.B. Wickramasinghe also attended the media briefing.
