Rural Economic Affairs Minister, P Harrison told Parliament yesterday that the MILCO Company was still to receive about Rs 15-20 million for yoghurt, liquid and powdered milk it had provided to Temple Trees to treat people who attended the political meetings in the run-up to the Jan. 08 presidential election.

"We are now taking necessary steps to recover the money from those who are responsible for that. We will take action against the officials who had given approval for those spending."

He said the milk powder production in the country would be doubled by March next year and that it would be trebled by the year 2017.

The minister said so while responding to a question raised by UNP MP Buddhika Pathirana.

Pathirana demanded to know the names of the politicians who had ordered MILCO to supply milk products and the officials responsible.

The Minister said that an investigation was being conducted, but they had the names of politicians and officials, and he was ready to reveal the names if the MP raises a different question to that effect.
