Royal Panadura rout DSS

Royal College, Panadura powered their way to the quarter-final stage with a thumping nine wickets victory over fancied D.S. Senanayake College, who were bundled out for a paltry 58 runs in the Inter-School Under-13 Division I pre-quarter-final cricket encounter played at Panadura Esplanade yesterday.

Batting first DSS were skittle out for 58 runs as paceman Sachin Tharuka picked up five wickets in an impressive spell of eight overs, which included three maidens.

In reply the home team knocked off the win needed in just nine overs.

St. Joseph’s College overpowered Royal College to book a quarter-final berth as Plevin Perera with a good double and Havin Perera with a four wicket haul impressed for the visitors to record a four wicket victory in their pre-quarter-final match played at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Last year finalists Mahanama College, Colombo registered a four wicket victory over St. Sebastian’s College after restricting the latter to 149 runs in their pre-quarter-final played at Moratuwa yesterday.

All-rounder Charana Nanayakkara clobbered a blistering 107 (13x4s, 6x6s) in 68 balls and picked up four wickets to guide Thurstan College to a huge 125 runs victory over St. Anthony’s College, Wattala in their pre-quarter-final match played at Reid Avenue on Sunday.
