Purawesi Balaya yesterday urged President Maithripala Sirisena to reveal the reasons for the removal of Secretary to the Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate and Inquire into Serious Acts of Fraud (SPCISAF) Lacille de Silva on Tuesday.

Addressing the media at the Centre for Society and Religion (CSR), at Deans Road, Maradana, Co-convener of Purawasi Balaya, Gamini Viyangoda said the way the PCISAF secretary had been removed with no reasons given at a time a serious inquiry was being conducted against ex-President Mahinda Rajapaksa was not unfair and unacceptable.

"These acts make us doubt whether the good governance regime is also acting like the previous Rajapaksa government," Viyangoda stressed.

He said the government had already appointed many media advisors who had worked for the Rajapaksa regime for the past ten years and currently they were being given high positions in state owned media institutions.

"Now they are the ones who promote good governance among the public. But, everyone must keep in mind that they are the very first people who will again go and support ex-President Rajapaksa if he returns to power," Viyangoda added.

Convener of Purawasi Balaya K.W. Janaranjana alleged that several government ministers who were responsible for corruption under the previous regime were avoiding inquiries.
