Salley looks back  nostalgically at Gota’s management style

Complains of inaction by UDA

Chairman of the Shaikh Usman Waliyullah Shrine and Masjid, popularly called the Devatagaha Mosque, has complained to authorities that immediate action must be taken to halt an unauthorised structure within the mosque premises.

"I have lodged a complaint with the Cinnamon Gardens Police Station and even written to the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) and the Urban Development Authority (UDA), but there has been no action," Reyyaz Salley told The Island.

Salley said that though he was no fan of former Defence Secretary, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, he admired the management style of the latter.

"If he was heading the UDA now, he would immediately look into my complaint and initiated suitable action," he added.

Salley, who is also a Working Director of Lanka Cement Co. Ltd., alleged that the UDA was highly inefficient. "They did not have a vehicle to be sent to the mosque premises when I called their Enforcement Division and informed them about the unauthorised construction."
