AG requests HC to further remand two  accused in parliamentarian Raviraj killing

The Attorney General, yesterday requested the Colombo High Court Judge Manilal Waidyathilaka to extend for another three months the remand order imposed on two accused in the murder of former TNA parliamentarian, Ravi Raj.


Senior State Counsel Nalin Hewawasam appeared for the Attorney General.


These two accused are police officer, Gamini Seneviratne and Pradeep Chaminda.


 Defence Counsel, Sunanda Deshapriya and Ruwan Dissanayake were allowed time till April 25, to file objections to the request of the Attorney General.


Raviraj and his security officer Lakshman Kiriwela were killed on September 11, 2006, allegedly by the aforesaid two persons and three other accused with the help of unknown persons at Elvitigala, Nerahenpita.


One accused person named Sampath Munasinghe has already been bailed out.
