Prelates praise CP Governor for ban on Sunday morning private tuition classes

KANDY – Most Venerable Warakagoda Gnanaratana Mahanayake Thera of Asgiriya Chapter expressed his appreciation of the steps taken by the Central Province Governor Niluka Ekanayake to ban private tuition classes on Sunday mornings in the province.


The Most Venerable Mahanayake Thera said there had been an appeal for baning supplementary tuition for schoolchildren on Sundays mornings.


"However, we are pleased that the Governor has taken action to ban private tuition on Sunday morning.


Governor Niluka Ekanayake calling on the prelate on Friday (24) said that her proposal to stop tuition classes in the forenoon of Sunday could be made effective as the tuition masters expressed their willingness to support the move.


The response from the tuition masters was encouraging, the Governor told the prelate.


The Governor said she sought the blessings of the prelate in her endeavour to serve the people of the Province. Ekanayake later in the day visited the Most Venerable Anamaduwe Sri Dhammadassi.
