New Air Force Commander


Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy yesterday assumed duties as the Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force. He succeeded Air Marshal Gagan Bulathsinghala, who retired upon reaching the age of 55.

Jayampathy, an old boy of Nalanda College, Colombo, joined the SLAF’s 10th intake on March 5,1982 as an officer cadet.

He has served the service as a pilot instructor as well. The new commander took part in a number successful missions during the battle against the LTTE.

He held a number of top positions including the post of Director Operations.
