Kingswood College emerged champions of Milo Under-18 School Rugby Tournament as they pulled off a stunning upset to beat Isipathana College 21-5 in the Cup final which worked off in CR and FC grounds at Longden Place, Colombo yesterday evening.

The underdogs had taken a narrow lead of 7-0 at half time as they put a lot pressure on Isipathana to bounce back in the important final match.

The ‘Green Machines’ worked really hard to cross the white wash once in the second half, but the team from the Hill Capital touched down twice in the same half to take the Trophy back to the Hills as they recorded a memorable victory at Longden Place.

Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala also made their mark in the inter-school rugby as they rallied around Moratuwa M.M.V to seal the Shield. The Kurunegala outfit eventually won 44-0 and they had the control of the game from the very first minute of the match.

They had taken a massive lead of 25-0 at half time and added three more tries to the tally in the second half as Moratuwa M.M.V stumbled to an embarrassing defeat.

Trinity College too sealed an easy win as they outplayed Vidyartha College 41-0. Trinity had taken 12-0 advantage at the first half, and added five more tries in the second half to win the match.

St. John’s College, Nugegoda had a dream run in the tournament, but they failed to wrap up a good season losing the plate final 38-3 to St. Joseph’s College.

Josephian led 14-3 lead at half time and added five tries in the second half to seal the deal.
