Urgency of investment in renewable energy



JLanka Technologies, a pioneer in the local renewable energy sector and the leading solar solutions provider in Sri Lanka are powering the Green Energy Leaders Forum on Global Trends in Renewable Energy Investment, scheduled to be held on November 12th, 2:30 p.m. onwards at Waters Edge, Battaramulla. The forum is a platform that will bring together policy makers and most importantly commercial and utility-type investors, especially those focusing on renewable energy together, to initiate dialogue on solar energy, solar solutions and solar investment.


Yoni Ziv, the Vice President of Sales and Founding Member of SolarEdge Technologies Inc. of Isreal is also a speaker at the event, and will discuss the topic of future global trends in renewable technology. SolarEdge, a global leader in photovoltaic (PV) inverters and power optimisers, and an emerging forerunner in smart energy management will share valuable industry-focused expertise and advice on the subject.


Eng. Asoka Abeygunawardana, Chairman of the Strategic Enterprise Management Agency (SEMA) of the Presidential Secretariat, will also speak at the event on the topic of renewable energy investment in Sri Lanka, opening up discussions on the current market situation, and the energy policies in place and those being formulated to encourage and direct international investment to the country. The forum will convene with a networking high tea session.


Sri Lanka is currently heavily investing in solar power.Leading solar solutions providers such as JLanka are empowering consumers with more customized and affordable solar solutions through focused investment into innovation and R&D. According to the latest United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Bloomberg New Energy Finance Report, renewable energy set a new record for investment by rising 5% to $285.9 billion, with developing economies jumping ahead of developed countries for the first time in terms of total new renewable energy investment.
