Second batch of Central Province members to go on foreign junket

By Cyril Wimalasurendre

The second batch of Central Provincial Council members and officials are likely to leave for Russia on an ‘educational tour’ by the end of this month.

Governor Central Province Niluka Ekanayake has given her nod for the tour on the condition that the group would keep the cost of the junket low.

The tour of the second group of provincial council members was suspended on a presidential directive due to some issues concerning th first batch that had visited Russia in September. The first group comprised 35 members including officials.

The second batch will consist of about 33 members and officials.

Governor Ekanayake has consented to the tour of the second batch led by Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake following repeated requests from the councillors concerned.
