Sri Lanka ‘A’ collapse again, lose by 195 runs

Sri Lanka ‘A’ lasted just over a session on the final day of the first unofficial Test against England ‘A’ as the tourists secured a massive 195 run win at Pallekele yesterday.

Set a daunting target of 365 runs, Sri Lanka resumed on 41 for two and lost overnight batsman Roshen Silva in the second over of the day when he was caught behind by Ben Foakes off the bowling of Tom Curran.

None of the batsman with the exception of opener Udara Jayasundara showed resistance as Sri Lanka ‘A’ were shot out for 169 runs in 58.1 overs.

Jayasundara, the former Ananda College batsman, ran out of partners and was left stranded on 64. He faced 166 deliveries and hit five fours and three sixes.

Brothers Tom and Sam Curran, the sons of former Zimbabwe international Kevin Curran, shared six wickets between them.

Captain Dhananjaya de Silva could manage only 20 runs.
